    HOMEWORK POLICY

Practicing and reinforcing new and old skills as well as teaching responsibility and independence is an important part of your child’s learning process.   Homework is a review of the day’s work and is announced during the period at which it is assigned as well at the end of the day.  Students are responsible for recording it in their homework assignment books and bringing home the necessary papers and/or books. Both daily and long-term assignments should be recorded.

Your third grader’s homework should take no longer than 30 minutes with the possibility of some additional reading time.  If your child is having difficulty with an assignment, please do not hesitate to help and encourage him/her.  However, some tasks, especially math, may require a method with which we as parents are not quite familiar.  If you and your child are feeling frustrated with an assignment, please put it away and jot me a note.  I will be happy to spend time reviewing it with your child the next day.  If your child is unable to complete the homework for the evening due to an emergency or special family function, please inform me.  It will be made up the following evening.  After its completion, please review all homework to be sure the quality meets with your approval.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions!
