Early Childhood Advisory Council

Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC) is an advisory group of community stakeholders interested in the education and welfare of children in preschool through grade three that is convened by the school district (N.J.A.C.6A:13A-1.2).

As required under N.J.A.C.6A:13A-4.6, the district Board of Education shall establish a PK -3  Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC) to review preschool program implementation of high-quality programs, serve as advisory support for the local school district’s preschool program, and support transition as children move from preschool through grade three.

ECAC Meetings will be held four times per school year. Please check back for upcoming meetings dates, announcements, and shared resources.

ECAC Community Needs Assessment

NJ Districts are mandated to periodically conduct district-wide assessment of community needs and resources in order for  the Early Childhood Advisory Council to be productive, relevant, and understand the issues and needs that affect the local early childhood program. This Community Needs Assessment will serve as a springboard for the ECAC to plan district-wide work, prioritize identified needs, and connect community members to relevant resources. The ECAC will utilize a variety of sources, including but not limited to an analysis of census data, surveys of the entire preschool community, and focus group reports  (N.J.A.C.6A:83.4(d)).
