Child Study Team

New Jersey Department of Education regulations require that the basic team includes a learning consultant (LDTC), a school psychologist, and a school social worker. For a preschool student, the regulations require the basic team to also include a speech/language specialist.

Learning Disability Teacher Consultant

The Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) plays a vital role in supporting student success by serving as a key member of the Child Study Team. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive educational evaluations to identify learning needs, collaborating with educators and parents to develop effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and providing expert guidance on instructional strategies and accommodations. The LDTC works closely with teachers to implement interventions, monitors student progress, and ensures compliance with state and federal special education regulations, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

School Psychologist

A School Psychologist is a certified professional who collaborates with students, parents, educators, and administrators to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of all students. Their primary responsibilities include conducting psychoeducational evaluations to identify learning and behavioral needs, developing and monitoring individualized education programs (IEPs), providing counseling and crisis intervention, and consulting with staff to implement evidence-based strategies that enhance student success. They also play a key role in promoting safe and supportive learning environments and ensuring compliance with state and federal education regulations.

School Social Worker

The school social worker's focus lies in assessing the student in relation to family, school and community. The school social worker gathers information related to the student's developmental milestones and health status, along with family and school histories as they pertain to school performance and progress. As a CST case manager, the social worker collaborates with educators and parents to develop effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The school social worker is the primary coordinator of community resources on behalf of students.
