Staff Evaluation

The New Jersey Department of Education has proposed regulations outlining the requirements of the new statewide educator evaluation systems, known as AchieveNJ. Upon State Board approval, the proposed regulations will allow the statewide adoption of this new evaluation system to take effect in the 2013-2014 school year. The statewide evaluations system is provided for in the Teacher Effectiveness and Accountability for the Children of New Jersey (TEACHNJ) Act, which was passed unanimously by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Christie on August 6, 2012. More information about NJAchieve is available on the NJDOE website here:

In accordance with requirements from the TEACHNJ Act,Chesterfield Township School District recently adopted a NJ DOE approved teacher evaluation instrument and principal evaluation instrument.  Chesterfield Elementary School initiated our own “pilot” of the Marzano Causal Teacher Evaluation model in January of 2011. The Board officially adopted this model in November of 2012.  Dr. Marzano’s model is developed fromsynthesis of research on teacher practices that influence studentachievement.  More information can befound by visiting the following website:

Chesterfield Township School District administrators will join our regional colleagues in using the Northern Burlington County RegionalSchool District Principal Evaluation model, one of the very few district developed models that was approved by the state of NJ. This model is research based and uses the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards as the framework. Chesterfield administrators will participate in a regional training and goal setting with administrative colleagues from Mansfield, Springfield, North Hanover, and Northern Burlington Regional School District this summer. We are excited about this opportunity to work with the instructional leaders in our region in this new endeavor.
