SCOTT HEINO

SUPERINTENDENT

Scott Heino is a graduate of West Chester University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. He began his teaching career at the Aletta Crichton School in Pemberton, where he taught 4th grade. He then moved to Elizabeth Haddon Elementary School in Haddonfield, NJ, where he taught 2nd and 4th grades.  
 
While teaching, Mr. Heino earned his master’s degree in School Administration from Rowan University. After the completion of his master’s program, Mr. Heino accepted a position as the assistant principal at the Harrison Township Elementary School in Gloucester County. In his second year at Harrison Township Elementary School, he was named principal where he continued to serve for five years. Harrison Township Elementary School was named a Governor’s School of Excellence during his tenure.  Mr. Heino then served as principal of the Bobby’s Run School in Lumberton for eight years prior to joining the Chesterfield Township School District as Superintendent in 2014.
 
Mr. Heino is in his 12th year as the superintendent of the Chesterfield Township School District. During his time in Chesterfield, Mr. Heino worked with local stakeholders, as well as stakeholders from across the state, to bring fair funding to Chesterfield at a time when it was the most underfunded school district in the state. Over the years, Mr. Heino has worked with his talented administrative team to lead the district through targeted change to continue to improve the education for all students. Most recently the district implemented a multi-tiered system of support with a focus on a strong Tier I program across all grade levels, as well as targeted support for both students and staff. The district is also a recent recipient of New Jersey’s preschool expansion aid, which has allowed the district to provide a free, high quality preschool program serving over 85 four and five year old children in Chesterfield across two campuses.
 
Mr. Heino currently serves as chairperson of the Burlington County Association of School Administrators Curriculum & Instruction Committee and represents the county on the state committee.
 
Mr. Heino grew up in Mt. Laurel, NJ, and attended Mt. Laurel Public School system before moving on to Lenape High School.  He currently lives in Medford, NJ, with his wife and high school sweetheart, Katie. Katie and Scott have two boys, Oskar and Mak, and a yellow lab named Blue.
