Interim Special Education Teacher (2024-2025)

The Chesterfield Township School District, a high-achieving PK-6 district located in northwestern Burlington County, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Interim Special Education Teacher for our PK-6 Elementary Program from April 30 – June 23, 2025.

Requirements & Qualifications

•   NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification

•   Ability to demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods

•   Ability to maintain a positive learning environment with strong interpersonal and        communication skills

•  Knowledge of behavioral theory and/or experience with Behavior Management Systems

•  Criminal history background check

•   Proof of US citizenship or legal resident status

Responsibilities

•   Report to building Principal and/or Director of Special Services.

•   Provide high-quality instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with each student's individualized education program (IEP) in the general education or resource setting, as assigned.

•   Identify student needs, coordinate instructional activities, and cooperate with other professional staff members for service delivery.

•   Develop lesson plans and organize appropriate instructional materials.

•   Establish and maintain standards of classroom management and student behavior needed to achieve learning targets.

•   Work to achieve State Core Curriculum Content standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-approved curricular tools and other appropriate learning activities.

•   Set specific objectives for weekly lesson preparation and effectively carry out all objectives.

•   Assess student academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction.

•   Maintain records of each student's educational progress for reporting purposes.

•   Consult with members of the Child Study Team (CST) regarding each student's educational program, academic program, and personal growth; complete required documentation for development of student IEPs; meet at least once annually with the case manager, parents, and other professional staff to review and revise the individualized education program and placement of each assigned student.

•   Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss student progress.

•   Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.

•   Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees, and other school system groups.

•   Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
