Hand Strengthening to Improve Fine Motor Skills

 

Paper Clip Task- match colored paper clips to colored dots (dots are different sizes and made with card stock and laminated if able). String paper clips together then form letters/ numbers/shapes. 

 

                                                                                                                                   

 

 Cut Play Doh with scissors                      

                                                                                                  

 

 Squirt Guns or Spray bottles- put watered down paints into a squirt gun and spray onto a canvas; write with side walk chalk then erase with water in squirt gun or spray bottle.

 

                                                                             

 

 Painters Tape- Have child tear tape pieces 1-2 inches long and tape to a vertical surface; write numbers, math symbols on tape and practice math facts. Or, create a tape design with different colored tape on a table or wall, overlapping tape multiple times (i.e. can make a simple star shape) . See if your child can peel the tape off one peice at a time starting with the top peice, without accdnetlaly removing a lower peice/

                                                           

 

 

Clip Clothes Pins practice letters, numbers, counting by 5’s by clipping clothespins in correct order.
